Lost and Found items in the Main Office!

SENIORS! Spring CCIR Course selection is now open. Please fill out this LINK to let us know you are interested in taking a course and we will get you scheduled with your counselor. Spring courses must be registered for by Wednesday October 7th. If you have any questions please stop into Student Services and see Mrs. Cauwels.

Upcoming events/deadlines: 

  • Interested in proving your proficiency in a second language? STAMP testing will be happening on December 10th. Money is due to activities by Friday, November 13th. Please stop by Mrs. Doherty's classroom, D264, or talk to your current language teacher for more information.

  • Attention Spring Break Spain trip students: Don't forget about the $1000 scholarship opportunity. Please see your email from Mrs. Martens with information on how to apply.  The application deadline has been extended to Friday, October 9. All materials must be submitted by then.

  • The FBLA webstore has been extended for one more week. It will now close on October 12th. Make sure to check out the Bett gear! https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/aJP22cDfw2 

  • We are so excited to announce the HOBY Youth Leadership experience is now open for registration.  The conference is June 4, 2027 thru June 6, 2027 at Drake University.  If you are a sophomore and interested in this opportunity please stop into Student Services and talk with Mrs. Cauwels regarding this amazing opportunity. 

  • Printz-award winning author A.S. King will be at BHS on Monday, Nov. 16! Click the link in your announcement email to sign up for the author visit. It will be during 3rd block and students will be excused to attend on a first come, first serve basis. Both students who already enjoy reading and students who do not already enjoy reading are encouraged to sign up.

  • LeBron or Jordan? Caitlin Clark or Maya Moore? Everyone has an opinion, but have you ever had the chance to cast a ballot for it? On Tuesday BHS will participate in the 2026 Iowa Youth Straw Poll, a statewide mock election sponsored by the Iowa Secretary of State's Office. Through a digital ballot, students will have the opportunity to learn about the candidates, cast a vote, and compare Bettendorf's results with those of students across Iowa. The Youth Straw Poll is a nonpartisan educational activity designed to help students better understand elections and civic engagement. Watch for more information and the voting link as October 6 approaches.

  • The library is doing a coloring contest! Stop in the BHS Library to grab a coloring page. Entries are due Mon, Oct. 12. Winners will be announced Fri, Oct. 16.

Upcoming meetings:

  • Book Club is finishing Animal Farm! We will have our final discussion during Pride on Thursday, Oct. 8th in the library. It's not too late to join! It's a short book and a quick read. There are still copies available for checkout in the library. Want to suggest a book for the next Book Club read? Fill out this form to suggest one.

  • Anyone who would like to help build the set for the upcoming fall production - "Bone Chiller", we will have a meeting during pride TODAY in room B105.  Sign up for Mr. Tolle's pride session on SmartPass.

  • FCCLA will hold their next meeting Tuesday before school starts at 7:45 in room B217. We will talk about our first community service project, our pumpkin painting event and our fundraiser. We look forward to seeing you there. 

  • Spanish Club meets the first and third TUESDAY of every month from 3:35-4:35 Our next meeting is Tuesday in Señora Rivera’s room, D267! 

Upcoming PRIDE sessions:

  • TODAY, the University of Northern Iowa will be hosting a PRIDE session to go over what Speech and Debate looks like at the college level.  They will talk about the different events, how the program works at UNI, scholarship opportunities, and so much more.  All students are welcome to attend and can sign up via SmartPass.  Look for the activity called " Speech & Debate Team UNI Presentation."  If you have any questions, please email Mr. Rankin.  Thanks!

  • Seniors, as part of your high school graduation requirement, you must take and pass the Iowa Civics Exam.  The social studies dept. will be hosting a weekly testing session to help you with this requirement.  Mr. Wiley will be hosting a session on Thursday, October 8th. Sign up Now!  We look forward to seeing our seniors! Be on the lookout for your weekly opportunity!
